How long does it typically take for documents to be registered?
The whole process of registering a property takes around a week. The buyer’s attorney draughts the final deed first, and their fee is typically 1% of the purchase price of the property. It takes this process roughly 5-7 days. Additionally, the buyer is responsible for paying the stamp duty, which is often around 5% of the actual market worth of the property but varies from state to state. In Mumbai, the stamp duty is 5%. It doesn’t take more than a day for the bank to issue the receipt and acknowledge the payment after it has been made.
